THE MEQQUSAALIK MYTH
Inuit legends recount how angakkuit shamans invoked the protection of the benevolent Meqqusaalik spirit guide before venturing on spiritual quests into the hazards of Greenland’s inland ice. They were given patches of Meqqusaalik’s magical plumage to protect them on their expeditions into the vast unknown. Ole Kristiansen recounts the legend.
